Description:

7005 (Seven “Double-Oh” 5): Formulated with higher modules of elasticity, 7005 can be stressed further before being permanently deformed. The post weld heat treating process known as “aging” is 600 degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to 6061 at over 900 degrees Fahrenheit, making it a simpler and quicker process. Most of the commercially available butted tubes are 7005. We offer material from a variety of producers including Nova and custom pipes from TubePro. We also have a nice selection of straight gauge and heirloom tubes collected over the years. Production, semi-custom and full custom frame components are available.

A more complex material for the frame builder as it provides more design control and ease of manipulation for butting and forming. 6061 is more expensive and time consuming in the form of a bicycle frame, as most of the components such as, dropouts, head tubes, and bottom bracket shells are all designed and produced in-house. Frames must be made in small batches to insure that the alignment process is completed correctly and with utmost precision. 6061 can be used to manufacture across a wide range of platforms including a very special road set by TubePro as well as Heirloom and straight-gauge drawn tubes.
